Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Food Producers, Mining and Aerospace & Defense sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.58%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 3.09% or 55.20 points to trade at 1843.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) added 3.06% or 81.00 points to end at 2726.00 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was up 2.66% or 15.60 points to 602.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Provident Financial (LON:PFG), which fell 10.45% or 68.60 points to trade at 588.00 at the close. Capita PLC (LON:CPI) declined 3.05% or 5.55 points to end at 176.15 and Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG) was down 2.35% or 13.40 points to 556.60.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1167 to 778 and 140 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.16% or 2.10 to $1332.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.88% or 0.56 to hit $64.11 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.72% or 0.48 to trade at $67.52 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.14% to 1.3956, while EUR/GBP rose 0.08% to 0.8812.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 89.87.
