Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining, Aerospace & Defense and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.56% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS), which rose 3.55% or 13.70 points to trade at 400.20 at the close. Meanwhile, EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 3.29% or 18.00 points to end at 564.80 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) was up 3.21% or 18.40 points to 591.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BT Group PLC (LON:BT), which fell 2.61% or 4.20 points to trade at 156.70 at the close. British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS) declined 1.80% or 54.00 points to end at 2,946.00 and Schroders PLC (LON:SDR) was down 1.78% or 5.60 points to 309.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1038 to 740 and 645 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.42% or 11.24 to $2,669.74 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 3.04% or 2.07 to hit $70.17 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.74% or 1.97 to trade at $73.80 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.13% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 106.22.
