Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Household Goods & Home Construction and Aerospace & Defense sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.56%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 10.54% or 1,545.00 points to trade at 16,200.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) added 4.98% or 99.00 points to end at 2,088.00 and Entain PLC (LON:ENT) was up 4.54% or 26.40 points to 607.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO), which fell 1.54% or 76.00 points to trade at 4,853.00 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) declined 1.50% or 33.50 points to end at 2,198.00 and Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX) was down 1.11% or 85.00 points to 7,565.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1170 to 609 and 700 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.99% or 24.80 to $2,483.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.84% or 0.66 to hit $77.69 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.31% or 0.25 to trade at $80.44 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.08% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.36% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 102.32.
