Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Industrial Engineering sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.56% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which rose 3.65% or 29.40 points to trade at 834.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG) added 3.22% or 6.30 points to end at 202.20 and Old Mutual Ltd (LON:OMU) was up 2.28% or 2.56 points to 114.64 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG), which fell 4.64% or 248.00 points to trade at 5100.00 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 2.73% or 22.20 points to end at 789.80 and Next PLC (LON:NXT) was down 2.41% or 138.00 points to 5578.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1241 to 739 and 196 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.14% or 15.35 to $1330.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $53.99 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.51% or 0.32 to trade at $62.97 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.39% to 1.2684, while EUR/GBP rose 0.02% to 0.8919.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 96.748.
