Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Tobacco, Industrial Transportation and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.51%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES), which rose 3.94% or 23.50 points to trade at 619.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT) added 2.65% or 75.00 points to end at 2910.00 and GKN PLC (LON:GKN) was up 2.60% or 8.80 points to 347.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Provident Financial (LON:PFG), which fell 5.79% or 46.00 points to trade at 748.00 at the close. Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) declined 1.85% or 61.50 points to end at 3266.00 and Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) was down 1.72% or 130.00 points to 7415.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1172 to 816 and 445 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.04% or 13.83 to $1311.37 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.91% or 0.46 to hit $49.98 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.83% or 0.46 to trade at $55.16 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.88% to 1.3474, while EUR/GBP rose 0.69% to 0.8852.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 91.91.
