Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and General Industrial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.51%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which rose 4.00% or 93.00 points to trade at 2420.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Smurfit Kappa Group PLC (LON:SKG) added 3.73% or 96.00 points to end at 2672.00 and DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) was up 3.43% or 12.60 points to 379.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB), which fell 3.03% or 142.00 points to trade at 4543.00 at the close. Just Eat (LON:JE) declined 2.90% or 18.60 points to end at 622.20 and Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA) was down 2.32% or 12.60 points to 531.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1291 to 815 and 223 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.47% or 6.75 to $1420.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.96% or 0.54 to hit $56.76 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.92% or 0.58 to trade at $63.84 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.22% to 1.2447, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.8960.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 97.398.
