Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Forestry & Paper and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.50%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN), which rose 3.43% or 20.30 points to trade at 611.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) added 3.29% or 61.00 points to end at 1913.50 and Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) was up 3.12% or 9.50 points to 314.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which fell 9.71% or 108.50 points to trade at 1009.00 at the close. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) declined 3.04% or 22.40 points to end at 713.20 and SSE PLC (LON:SSE) was down 2.70% or 32.00 points to 1155.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1411 to 740 and 293 ended unchanged.
Shares in EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) fell to 52-week lows; falling 9.71% or 108.50 to 1009.00. Shares in Tui AG (LON:TUIT) fell to 3-years lows; falling 3.04% or 22.40 to 713.20.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.28% or 3.65 to $1294.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.63% or 0.98 to hit $61.12 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.54% or 1.04 to trade at $68.62 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.82% to 1.3138, while EUR/GBP fell 0.95% to 0.8531.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 96.838.
