Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Mobile Telecommunications and Industrial Engineering sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.46%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which rose 3.77% or 5.90 points to trade at 162.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) added 3.00% or 7.60 points to end at 261.20 and Schroders PLC (LON:SDR) was up 2.85% or 85.00 points to 3065.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO), which fell 8.59% or 20.20 points to trade at 215.00 at the close. DCC plc (LON:DCC) declined 2.95% or 210.0 points to end at 6910.0 and Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG) was down 1.82% or 111.00 points to 5972.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1106 to 908 and 271 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.27% or 3.30 to $1203.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.43% or 0.32 to hit $75.55 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.66% or 0.56 to trade at $85.36 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.02% to 1.2990, while EUR/GBP fell 0.28% to 0.8872.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 95.32.
