Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Household Goods & Home Construction and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.46%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RB), which rose 7.91% or 499.00 points to trade at 6810.00 at the close. Meanwhile, BT Group PLC (LON:BT) added 4.96% or 11.15 points to end at 236.00 and Pearson PLC (LON:PSON) was up 3.64% or 33.60 points to 957.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were CRH PLC (LON:CRH), which fell 1.83% or 49.00 points to trade at 2632.00 at the close. British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS) declined 1.48% or 62.00 points to end at 4115.00 and Relx PLC (LON:REL) was down 1.31% or 22.50 points to 1690.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1243 to 655 and 408 ended unchanged.
Shares in Pearson PLC (LON:PSON) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.64% or 33.60 to 957.40.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.04% or 0.50 to $1225.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.43% or 0.30 to hit $69.31 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.20% or 0.15 to trade at $74.69 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.3109, while EUR/GBP rose 0.06% to 0.8888.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 94.50.
