Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Engineering, Mining and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Micro Focus International (LON:MCRO), which rose 2.66% or 64.00 points to trade at 2472.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 2.44% or 26.00 points to end at 1093.00 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) was up 2.13% or 66.00 points to 3167.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Smiths Group PLC (LON:SMIN), which fell 2.76% or 45.00 points to trade at 1584.00 at the close. Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) declined 2.11% or 23.00 points to end at 1069.00 and Experian PLC (LON:EXPN) was down 1.75% or 29.00 points to 1631.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1336 to 553 and 484 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.02% or 0.31 to $1252.49 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.31% or 1.14 to hit $50.49 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.30% or 1.21 to trade at $53.72 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.59% to 1.3016, while EUR/GBP rose 0.13% to 0.8596.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.61% at 97.17.
