Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 2.82% or 47.20 points to trade at 1721.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP) added 2.41% or 4.40 points to end at 186.90 and Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) was up 2.10% or 46.00 points to 2231.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF), which fell 4.16% or 113.00 points to trade at 2604.00 at the close. The Berkeley Group Holdings plc (LON:BKGH) declined 2.17% or 80.00 points to end at 3612.00 and Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) was down 1.80% or 17.30 points to 942.70.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1102 to 887 and 317 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.38% or 4.80 to $1258.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.32% or 0.98 to hit $73.16 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.13% or 0.10 to trade at $78.14 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.01% to 1.3226, while EUR/GBP rose 0.36% to 0.8842.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 94.11.
