Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Tobacco sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.44% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN), which rose 2.33% or 63.00 points to trade at 2761.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) added 2.22% or 40.00 points to end at 1843.00 and Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RB) was up 2.19% or 152.00 points to 7090.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Provident Financial (LON:PFG), which fell 7.87% or 71.50 points to trade at 836.50 at the close. Pearson PLC (LON:PSON) declined 1.90% or 12.00 points to end at 619.50 and Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE) was down 1.64% or 12.00 points to 719.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 995 to 993 and 417 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.65% or 8.35 to $1293.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.90% or 1.44 to hit $51.02 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.95% or 1.09 to trade at $56.88 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.53% to 1.3212, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.8930.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.49% at 93.09.
