Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Chemicals, Construction & Materials and Mobile Telecommunications sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.43%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Airtel Africa Plc (LON:AAF), which rose 3.87% or 4.20 points to trade at 112.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Pershing Square Holdings Ltd (LON:PSHP) added 2.23% or 84.00 points to end at 3,854.00 and B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) was up 2.17% or 7.80 points to 366.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV), which fell 16.28% or 106.50 points to trade at 547.50 at the close. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) declined 2.39% or 29.00 points to end at 1,182.00 and Entain PLC (LON:ENT) was down 1.25% or 8.60 points to 681.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 97 to 49.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.46% or 12.21 to $2,647.71 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.23% or 0.16 to hit $69.94 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.16% or 0.12 to trade at $73.05 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.24% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.43% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 107.89.
