Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Engineering, Automobiles & Parts and Support Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.43%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which rose 6.04% or 7.40 points to trade at 129.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) added 4.49% or 88.50 points to end at 2061.00 and Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB) was up 4.45% or 280.00 points to 6570.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Merlin Entertainments PLC (LON:MERL), which fell 8.03% or 29.70 points to trade at 340.00 at the close. British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS) declined 4.64% or 154.50 points to end at 3176.50 and Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO) was down 3.43% or 7.40 points to 208.60.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1458 to 588 and 307 ended unchanged.
Shares in British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS) fell to 3-years lows; falling 4.64% or 154.50 to 3176.50.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.15% or 1.90 to $1232.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.20% or 0.14 to hit $71.92 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.41% or 0.33 to trade at $81.11 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.39% to 1.3204, while EUR/GBP fell 0.30% to 0.8777.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 94.67.
