Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Forestry & Paper, General Industrial and Media sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.41%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Relx PLC (LON:REL), which rose 2.27% or 36.50 points to trade at 1647.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) added 2.09% or 12.80 points to end at 624.10 and Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) was up 2.00% or 35.50 points to 1812.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which fell 4.81% or 29.00 points to trade at 574.00 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 3.03% or 25.00 points to end at 799.00 and Old Mutual Ltd (LON:OMU) was down 2.44% or 2.98 points to 119.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1166 to 937 and 323 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.84% or 10.95 to $1288.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.79% or 0.44 to hit $56.24 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.32% or 0.21 to trade at $65.28 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.25% to 1.3169, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8601.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 96.637.
