Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Insurance, Industrial Transportation and Financial Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.40%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 4.70% or 650.00 points to trade at 14,485.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Beazley PLC (LON:BEZG) added 2.90% or 19.00 points to end at 673.50 and B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) was up 2.48% or 11.50 points to 474.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ConvaTec Group PLC (LON:CTEC), which fell 3.78% or 9.60 points to trade at 244.20 at the close. Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON) declined 3.76% or 22.60 points to end at 578.00 and Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT) was down 3.60% or 89.00 points to 2,385.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 974 to 846 and 685 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.84% or 19.75 to $2,329.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.18% or 0.92 to hit $78.97 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.09% or 0.90 to trade at $83.52 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 105.08.
