Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Engineering, Food Producers and General Retailers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.36%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV), which rose 4.04% or 22.60 points to trade at 582.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Smurfit Kappa Group PLC (LON:SWR) added 3.92% or 138.00 points to end at 3,660.00 and Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX) was up 2.81% or 245.00 points to 8,950.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU), which fell 3.38% or 37.00 points to trade at 1,057.00 at the close. Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) declined 2.19% or 10.40 points to end at 464.00 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was down 2.19% or 3.90 points to 174.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1136 to 658 and 693 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.15% or 3.70 to $2,418.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.18% or 0.15 to hit $82.47 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.27% or 0.23 to trade at $85.17 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.60% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.23% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 103.80.
