Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs, General Industrial and Aerospace & Defense sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.35%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC), which rose 3.89% or 7.10 points to trade at 189.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Pearson PLC (LON:PSON) added 3.00% or 20.00 points to end at 687.00 and ITV PLC (LON:ITV) was up 3.00% or 5.20 points to 178.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Provident Financial (LON:PFG), which fell 3.15% or 28.50 points to trade at 876.50 at the close. Shire PLC (LON:SHP) declined 3.11% or 119.50 points to end at 3719.50 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) was down 2.98% or 110.50 points to 3599.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1111 to 848 and 458 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.21% or 2.64 to $1283.56 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $51.86 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.12% or 0.07 to trade at $57.95 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.05% to 1.3183, while EUR/GBP rose 0.13% to 0.8933.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 93.39.
