Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Transportation, Industrial Metals & Mining and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.34%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which rose 4.97% or 22.60 points to trade at 476.90 at the close. Meanwhile, EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 4.75% or 43.20 points to end at 953.20 and Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH) was up 4.19% or 150.00 points to 3731.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB), which fell 2.27% or 43.00 points to trade at 1846.80 at the close. Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL) declined 1.80% or 38.00 points to end at 2077.00 and Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK) was down 1.43% or 80.00 points to 5502.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1302 to 852 and 211 ended unchanged.
Shares in Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) fell to 5-year lows; down 2.27% or 43.00 to 1846.80.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.09% or 1.25 to $1413.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.29% or 0.17 to hit $59.26 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.23% or 0.15 to trade at $65.52 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.19% to 1.2698, while EUR/GBP fell 0.22% to 0.8948.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 95.768.
