Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.34%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS), which rose 4.83% or 290.00 points to trade at 6300.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 4.49% or 34.20 points to end at 796.00 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was up 3.94% or 32.20 points to 850.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which fell 14.59% or 18.35 points to trade at 107.40 at the close. Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS) declined 9.63% or 23.90 points to end at 224.20 and 3I Group PLC (LON:III) was down 8.16% or 70.20 points to 789.80.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1379 to 736 and 267 ended unchanged.
Shares in Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS) fell to 52-week lows; falling 9.63% or 23.90 to 224.20. Shares in 3I Group PLC (LON:III) fell to 52-week lows; losing 8.16% or 70.20 to 789.80.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.25% or 15.00 to $1214.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.05% or 0.59 to hit $56.84 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.29% or 0.85 to trade at $66.97 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.89% to 1.2747, while EUR/GBP rose 1.99% to 0.8877.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 97.02.
