Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining, Industrial Transportation and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.33% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY), which rose 3.99% or 2.34 points to trade at 61.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Airtel Africa Plc (LON:AAF) added 2.59% or 3.20 points to end at 127.00 and Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) was up 2.55% or 136.00 points to 5,466.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pershing Square Holdings Ltd (LON:PSHP), which fell 2.74% or 118.00 points to trade at 4,182.00 at the close. Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) declined 2.65% or 53.00 points to end at 1,949.00 and Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) was down 2.56% or 17.00 points to 647.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 952 to 851 and 608 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.45% or 12.25 to $2,760.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.65% or 1.28 to hit $76.11 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.91% or 0.73 to trade at $79.42 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.04% to 1.23, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.30% at 107.79.
