Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Mining and Electrical sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.30%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which rose 7.47% or 174.00 points to trade at 2502.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO) added 5.46% or 57.40 points to end at 1108.80 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) was up 2.63% or 106.50 points to 4149.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY), which fell 1.95% or 3.90 points to trade at 196.10 at the close. Direct Line Insurance Group PLC (LON:DLGD) declined 1.19% or 3.40 points to end at 283.10 and Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) was down 1.03% or 19.50 points to 1878.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1364 to 734 and 212 ended unchanged.
Shares in Direct Line Insurance Group PLC (LON:DLGD) fell to 3-years lows; down 1.19% or 3.40 to 283.10.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.34% or 5.15 to $1531.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.63% or 1.49 to hit $55.22 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.20% or 1.33 to trade at $59.16 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.18% to 1.2166, while EUR/GBP fell 0.48% to 0.9023.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 98.843.
