Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Electronic & Electrical Equipment and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.28% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which rose 2.95% or 24.60 points to trade at 859.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 2.44% or 49.00 points to end at 2058.50 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) was up 2.39% or 109.50 points to 4696.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Provident Financial PLC (LON:PFG), which fell 3.77% or 19.60 points to trade at 500.40 at the close. Capita PLC (LON:CPI) declined 2.50% or 2.70 points to end at 105.15 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) was down 1.84% or 1.76 points to 93.88.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1315 to 878 and 212 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.12% or 1.55 to $1330.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.23% or 0.12 to hit $53.38 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $62.31 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.31% to 1.2722, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.8903.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 96.678.
