Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Tobacco and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.26%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 5.54% or 70.83 points to trade at 1350.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) added 2.02% or 61.32 points to end at 3098.24 and BHP Billiton PLC (LON:BLT) was up 2.45% or 33.04 points to 1382.66 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Babcock International Group PLC (LON:BAB), which fell 2.84% or 21.52 points to trade at 735.51 at the close. Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) declined 5.98% or 32.74 points to end at 514.68 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) was down 1.41% or 15.30 points to 1068.36.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1172 to 785 and 61 ended unchanged.
Shares in Babcock International Group PLC (LON:BAB) fell to 5-year lows; down 2.84% or 21.52 to 735.51. Shares in Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) fell to 3-years lows; losing 5.98% or 32.74 to 514.68.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.56% or 7.18 to $1282.48 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.55% or 0.31 to hit $56.73 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.31% or 0.19 to trade at $62.41 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.02% to 1.3232, while EUR/GBP rose 0.08% to 0.8872.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 93.89.
