Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare Equipment & Services, Construction & Materials and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.26%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 5.12% or 80.00 points to trade at 1643.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Provident Financial (LON:PFG) added 3.53% or 24.80 points to end at 727.60 and Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) was up 3.14% or 6.30 points to 207.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which fell 4.20% or 58.50 points to trade at 1335.00 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) declined 3.86% or 69.20 points to end at 1723.00 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was down 2.90% or 11.65 points to 390.75.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1084 to 948 and 134 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.40% or 5.30 to $1337.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.29% or 0.82 to hit $64.39 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.12% or 0.77 to trade at $69.80 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.04% to 1.3981, while EUR/GBP rose 0.22% to 0.8787.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 90.01.
