Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Mining, Household Goods & Home Construction and General Industrial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS), which rose 2.45% or 11.20 points to trade at 468.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV) added 2.44% or 22.00 points to end at 923.00 and Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) was up 2.30% or 33.00 points to 1,467.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY), which fell 5.90% or 17.00 points to trade at 271.00 at the close. Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) declined 1.72% or 11.80 points to end at 676.40 and GSK plc (LON:GSK) was down 1.66% or 25.00 points to 1,480.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 938 to 771 and 737 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.44% or 37.90 to $2,677.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.79% or 0.60 to hit $75.25 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.68% or 0.54 to trade at $78.86 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.07% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 102.66.
