Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Aerospace & Defense, Industrial Metals & Mining and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 11.46% or 95.00 points to trade at 924.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Capita PLC (LON:CPI) added 4.70% or 7.15 points to end at 159.15 and Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG) was up 3.01% or 16.60 points to 568.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were WPP PLC (LON:WPP), which fell 3.89% or 49.00 points to trade at 1210.50 at the close. Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB) declined 3.41% or 280.00 points to end at 7940.00 and Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK) was down 1.98% or 101.00 points to 4991.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 969 to 937 and 142 ended unchanged.
Shares in WPP PLC (LON:WPP) fell to 3-years lows; losing 3.89% or 49.00 to 1210.50.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.59% or 7.90 to $1327.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 2.92% or 1.83 to hit $60.77 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.66% or 1.75 to trade at $64.04 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.06% to 1.3879, while EUR/GBP rose 0.02% to 0.8934.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 89.66.
