Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Electronic & Electrical Equipment, Pharmaceuticals & Biotech and Travel & Leisure sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.13% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL), which rose 3.22% or 68.00 points to trade at 2179.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT) added 2.53% or 49.00 points to end at 1989.00 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) was up 2.45% or 31.50 points to 1319.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Provident Financial (LON:PFG), which fell 2.62% or 17.40 points to trade at 647.60 at the close. British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS) declined 2.48% or 99.00 points to end at 3900.00 and Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) was down 2.47% or 7.50 points to 296.30.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 768 to 675 and 298 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.95% or 12.50 to $1306.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.44% or 0.99 to hit $67.58 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.58% or 1.18 to trade at $73.51 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.08% to 1.3616, while EUR/GBP rose 0.47% to 0.8813.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.64% at 92.22.
