Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Industrial Metals & Mining and Forestry & Paper sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 4.60% or 37.00 points to trade at 841.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) added 2.84% or 56.00 points to end at 2030.00 and DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) was up 2.74% or 9.80 points to 367.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB), which fell 4.43% or 217.00 points to trade at 4685.00 at the close. ITV PLC (LON:ITV) declined 2.90% or 3.20 points to end at 107.00 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) was down 2.19% or 1.98 points to 88.28.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1087 to 1079 and 206 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.01% or 0.15 to $1426.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.17% or 0.65 to hit $56.28 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.38% or 0.86 to trade at $63.33 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.13% to 1.2484, while EUR/GBP rose 0.20% to 0.8986.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 96.900.
