Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Forestry & Paper and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM), which rose 3.35% or 15.90 points to trade at 491.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Provident Financial PLC (LON:PFG) added 2.42% or 16.20 points to end at 686.40 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was up 1.78% or 16.60 points to 946.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which fell 3.57% or 57.50 points to trade at 1554.50 at the close. Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT) declined 2.99% or 109.00 points to end at 3533.00 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) was down 1.80% or 35.00 points to 1912.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1062 to 953 and 362 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.20% or 2.40 to $1202.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 3.19% or 2.10 to hit $67.94 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.84% or 2.06 to trade at $74.69 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.09% to 1.2908, while EUR/GBP rose 0.16% to 0.8981.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 95.04.
