Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Chemicals, Software & Computer Services and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Provident Financial (LON:PFG), which rose 3.67% or 33.00 points to trade at 931.50 at the close. Meanwhile, EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 3.16% or 41.00 points to end at 1339.00 and WPP PLC (LON:WPP) was up 3.01% or 39.00 points to 1334.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG), which fell 3.93% or 15.30 points to trade at 374.40 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 2.62% or 35.00 points to end at 1302.00 and Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) was down 2.23% or 70.00 points to 3070.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 984 to 900 and 478 ended unchanged.
Shares in Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG) fell to all time lows; falling 3.93% or 15.30 to 374.40. Shares in Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.23% or 70.00 to 3070.50.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.59% or 7.57 to $1270.13 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.28% or 0.15 to hit $54.30 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.33% or 0.20 to trade at $60.79 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.48% to 1.3271, while EUR/GBP fell 0.45% to 0.8781.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 94.45.
