Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Life Insurance/Assurance, Automobiles & Parts and General Industrial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Old Mutual Ltd (LON:OMU), which rose 3.52% or 4.40 points to trade at 129.36 at the close. Meanwhile, Provident Financial PLC (LON:PFG) added 3.50% or 20.60 points to end at 610.00 and Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) was up 3.13% or 48.00 points to 1583.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pearson PLC (LON:PSON), which fell 5.40% or 48.80 points to trade at 854.20 at the close. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) declined 4.70% or 116.00 points to end at 2352.00 and Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL) was down 3.66% or 93.00 points to 2446.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1076 to 1015 and 296 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.30% or 3.95 to $1328.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 3.21% or 1.84 to hit $55.42 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 3.30% or 2.22 to trade at $65.03 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.22% to 1.3080, while EUR/GBP rose 0.06% to 0.8677.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 96.377.
