Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Food & Drug Retailers and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.07%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF), which rose 4.57% or 14.10 points to trade at 322.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 4.33% or 56.00 points to end at 1349.00 and Shire PLC (LON:SHP) was up 3.30% or 120.00 points to 3752.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV), which fell 3.71% or 23.50 points to trade at 610.00 at the close. The Berkeley Group Holdings plc (LON:BKGH) declined 2.61% or 98.00 points to end at 3657.00 and Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB) was down 2.29% or 200.00 points to 8540.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1080 to 982 and 58 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.69% or 8.89 to $1290.59 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.60% or 0.91 to hit $57.74 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.61% or 0.38 to trade at $62.95 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.38% to 1.3291, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.8870.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.49% at 93.43.
