Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the General Industrial, Forestry & Paper and Tobacco sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.07%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were 3I Group PLC (LON:III), which rose 3.34% or 35.50 points to trade at 1098.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Smurfit Kappa Group PLC (LON:SKG) added 3.18% or 74.00 points to end at 2400.00 and DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) was up 3.01% or 10.40 points to 356.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which fell 2.77% or 12.50 points to trade at 439.50 at the close. NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC) declined 2.23% or 54.00 points to end at 2364.00 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was down 2.07% or 18.20 points to 860.60.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1220 to 947 and 194 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.46% or 6.55 to $1424.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.12% or 0.07 to hit $57.97 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.16% or 0.10 to trade at $64.28 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.41% to 1.2687, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.8953.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 95.760.
