Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Industrial Transportation and Travel & Leisure sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.07% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which rose 4.48% or 48.00 points to trade at 1120.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Shire PLC (LON:SHP) added 3.79% or 143.00 points to end at 3920.00 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 2.83% or 39.00 points to 1416.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM), which fell 4.77% or 29.00 points to trade at 579.00 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 2.71% or 37.00 points to end at 1326.00 and Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO) was down 1.74% or 44.00 points to 2485.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1137 to 986 and 134 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.18% or 2.30 to $1263.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.47% or 0.27 to hit $57.49 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.27% or 0.17 to trade at $63.58 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.25% to 1.3349, while EUR/GBP rose 0.59% to 0.8854.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 93.23.
