Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the General Industrial, Industrial Metals & Mining and Forestry & Paper sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.05%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG), which rose 5.88% or 312.00 points to trade at 5622.00 at the close. Meanwhile, WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC (LON:MRW) added 2.15% or 4.20 points to end at 199.45 and Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) was up 2.02% or 34.50 points to 1738.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN), which fell 4.49% or 92.00 points to trade at 1955.00 at the close. WPP PLC (LON:WPP) declined 4.38% or 43.90 points to end at 957.60 and 3I Group PLC (LON:III) was down 4.38% or 47.00 points to 1027.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1110 to 1094 and 208 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.51% or 6.85 to $1343.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.07% or 1.06 to hit $52.20 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.92% or 1.15 to trade at $61.12 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.04% to 1.2680, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8892.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 97.032.
