Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Electronic & Electrical Equipment, Chemicals and Healthcare Equipment & Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT), which rose 2.73% or 93.00 points to trade at 3503.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) added 2.73% or 70.0 points to end at 2638.0 and Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) was up 2.42% or 7.50 points to 317.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC), which fell 3.03% or 5.10 points to trade at 163.00 at the close. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) declined 2.33% or 26.00 points to end at 1092.00 and WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC (LON:MRW) was down 1.75% or 3.90 points to 219.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1072 to 844 and 471 ended unchanged.
Shares in Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) fell to 5-year lows; down 3.03% or 5.10 to 163.00. Shares in Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) fell to 3-years lows; losing 2.33% or 26.00 to 1092.00.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.65% or 8.29 to $1269.81 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.99% or 0.54 to hit $55.08 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.22% or 0.74 to trade at $61.36 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.10% to 1.3073, while EUR/GBP fell 0.52% to 0.8881.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 94.86.
