Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrial Engineering, Healthcare Equipment & Services and Aerospace & Defense sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.04% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC), which rose 1.62% or 2.20 points to trade at 137.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) added 1.50% or 27.50 points to end at 1862.00 and DCC plc (LON:DCC) was up 1.40% or 90.0 points to 6530.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF), which fell 4.01% or 9.10 points to trade at 217.70 at the close. Hammerson PLC (LON:HMSO) declined 3.41% or 12.20 points to end at 345.70 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was down 2.83% or 24.20 points to 830.60.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1030 to 1013 and 305 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.23% or 2.95 to $1279.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.09% or 0.05 to hit $54.14 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.06% or 0.04 to trade at $62.74 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.20% to 1.2899, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8814.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 95.980.
