Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Food Producers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which rose 2.88% or 47.00 points to trade at 1677.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) fell 1.56% or 35.00 points to end at 2201.00 and Provident Financial PLC (LON:PFG) was up 0.97% or 6.60 points to 686.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which fell 3.05% or 4.05 points to trade at 128.85 at the close. Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO) declined 3.13% or 38.50 points to end at 1190.50 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was down 3.34% or 33.90 points to 980.60.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1028 to 922 and 357 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.46% or 5.60 to $1217.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.81% or 1.24 to hit $69.73 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.38% or 1.01 to trade at $74.22 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.45% to 1.2944, while EUR/GBP rose 0.40% to 0.8933.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 95.15.
