Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Media and Food & Drug Retailers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.04% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY), which rose 14.53% or 39.20 points to trade at 309.00 at the close. Meanwhile, WPP PLC (LON:WPP) added 8.62% or 99.00 points to end at 1247.50 and Capita PLC (LON:CPI) was up 2.49% or 4.65 points to 191.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which fell 4.96% or 18.30 points to trade at 350.70 at the close. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) declined 2.76% or 36.50 points to end at 1288.00 and Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO) was down 1.65% or 21.00 points to 1253.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1068 to 839 and 382 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.45% or 6.00 to $1317.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.34% or 0.23 to hit $68.33 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.98% or 0.72 to trade at $74.51 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.28% to 1.3742, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8787.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 91.64.
