Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Forestry & Paper, Automobiles & Parts and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.03% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were WPP PLC (LON:WPP), which rose 2.86% or 39.00 points to trade at 1403.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 2.36% or 33.00 points to end at 1430.00 and Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) was up 2.07% or 43.00 points to 2119.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Centrica PLC (LON:CNA), which fell 6.08% or 11.60 points to trade at 179.30 at the close. Provident Financial (LON:PFG) declined 5.97% or 54.00 points to end at 850.00 and Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO) was down 3.21% or 6.10 points to 183.95.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 996 to 993 and 410 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.17% or 2.12 to $1275.78 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.16% or 0.08 to hit $50.34 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.14% or 0.08 to trade at $55.92 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.31% to 1.3276, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8861.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 93.29.
