Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Electrical, Automobiles & Parts and General Retailers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were DCC plc (LON:DCC), which rose 1.69% or 110.0 points to trade at 6620.0 at the close. Meanwhile, SSE PLC (LON:SSE) added 1.53% or 18.00 points to end at 1192.00 and Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) was up 1.45% or 3.30 points to 231.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which fell 7.45% or 71.40 points to trade at 886.80 at the close. J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) declined 3.40% or 10.00 points to end at 283.90 and Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP) was down 2.48% or 2.95 points to 116.10.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1214 to 883 and 301 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tui AG (LON:TUIT) fell to 52-week lows; falling 7.45% or 71.40 to 886.80.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.05% or 0.65 to $1312.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.18% or 1.14 to hit $53.55 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 2.16% or 1.33 to trade at $62.84 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.22% to 1.2877, while EUR/GBP rose 0.19% to 0.8789.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 96.615.
