Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Industrial Transportation sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG), which rose 4.31% or 14.60 points to trade at 353.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 2.77% or 45.60 points to end at 1692.40 and Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO) was up 2.48% or 5.20 points to 215.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB), which fell 5.00% or 325.00 points to trade at 6175.00 at the close. Capita PLC (LON:CPI) declined 4.75% or 6.35 points to end at 127.25 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) was down 2.50% or 3.86 points to 150.72.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1300 to 830 and 264 ended unchanged.
Shares in Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB) fell to 3-years lows; losing 5.00% or 325.00 to 6175.00. Shares in Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) fell to 5-year lows; losing 2.50% or 3.86 to 150.72.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.23% or 2.70 to $1191.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.66% or 0.49 to hit $74.78 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.94% or 0.79 to trade at $84.70 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.34% to 1.3134, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.8741.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 95.47.
