Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Insurance and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which rose 2.78% or 8.35 points to trade at 308.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) added 2.68% or 3.90 points to end at 149.35 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was up 1.91% or 29.60 points to 1576.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which fell 3.01% or 4.75 points to trade at 153.25 at the close. Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) declined 2.75% or 12.70 points to end at 449.50 and Relx PLC (LON:REL) was down 2.07% or 32.50 points to 1538.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1013 to 1009 and 303 ended unchanged.
Shares in Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) fell to 5-year lows; down 2.75% or 12.70 to 449.50.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.16% or 1.90 to $1203.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.11% or 0.76 to hit $69.44 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.06% or 0.83 to trade at $78.88 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.09% to 1.3163, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.8880.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 94.08.
