Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.59%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS), which rose 4.28% or 245.00 points to trade at 5965.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 3.73% or 46.00 points to end at 1278.00 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) was up 2.60% or 5.30 points to 209.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Next PLC (LON:NXT), which fell 2.65% or 131.00 points to trade at 4820.00 at the close. Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS) declined 2.63% or 5.300 points to end at 196.200 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) was down 2.38% or 8.550 points to 350.300.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1475 to 788 and 438 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.90% or 10.60 to $1189.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.63% or 1.21 to hit $47.27 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.36% or 1.14 to trade at $49.38 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.53% to 1.2409, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.8525.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 101.48.
