Investing.com -- Messaging app Telegram has grown to 900 million users and is edging closer to profitability, the FT reported on Monday, citing an interview with the company's owner.
Dubai-based Telegram is bringing in "hundreds of millions of dollars" in revenues following the introduction of advertising and premium subscriptions two years ago, Pavel Durov said to the FT in his first public interview since 2017.
Durov added that he hopes the firm can become profitable in 2025, "if not this year." According to the FT, Durov also noted that it has been "offered $30 billion-plus valuations" from prospective investors, although it has set aside selling the platform until it has explored a future initial public offering.
