Indian automotive manufacturing company, Tata Motors (NYSE:TTM) is set to launch their electric Tata Tiago EV hatchback on September 28th. Unveiled at World EV Day this year, the Tiago is likely to have a sub-30 kWh battery pack with an expected range of around 200km (124mi).
Details on the Tiago EV are still coming in. However, Tata Motors MD Shailesh Chandra has said that it will offer an "exciting yet easy drive, silent cabin, low cost of ownership to a more accessible level." What's clear is the Tiago EV will be the cheapest EV in India, with at least one variant expected to be priced under the Rs 10 lakh (~$12,550) mark.
Tata Motors leads the Indian EV market with an 88% share in the segment. The company also announced previously that it will have 10 battery electric vehicles in its portfolio by 2025, some of which may be produced at the repurposed Sanand plant recently acquired from Ford India.
