Investing.com - Stocks in focus in pre-market trade Friday:
• Harley-Davidson (NYSE:HOG) stock fell 0.58% by 8:05 AM ET (12:05 GMT) after U.S. President Donald Trump backed a boycott of the company if it moves production overseas.
• Nielsen Holdings (NYSE:NLSN) stock soared 10.37% after the Wall Street Journal reported that Elliott Management had a more-than-8% stake in the company and plans to push for a sale.
• Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) stock gained 0.28% as news reports continued to swirl around chief executive Elon Musk’s comments last week that he had funding to take the company private. Bloomberg reported that Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund is working to form part of any group involved in the move, while at least two investors have sued the company over Musk’s tweet for market manipulation. Tesla’s board is expected to meet this week, while analysts at New Street Research reached the conclusion that it is “unlikely to go private”.
• JinkoSolar (NYSE:JKS) stock sank 3.60% as second-quarter earnings per share missed consensus.
• First Data Corp (NYSE:FDC) stock slid 3.36% as the company announced that New Omaha Holdings intends to offer 64 million of its shares for sale in a secondary offering.
• VF Corp (NYSE:VFC). stock may see some movement after it announced plans to split the business into two, independent publicly traded companies, spinning off its jeans and outlet units into a new firm.
• Bayer (DE:BAYGN) stock plunged 12.47% after a California jury ordered the German company's subsidiary Monsanto to pay $289 million in damages last week.
