Investing.com - The Trump administration is reportedly set for talks on imposing new travel restrictions on European countries at a meeting on Wednesday in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, Reuters reported, citing sources familiar with the discussions said.
United Airlines (NASDAQ:UAL) and American Airlines (NASDAQ:AAL) are both down nearly 7% as the outbreak has hurt travel demand significantly, forcing airlines to cut travel routes.
On heels of the report, Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) said on it was extending the suspension of all flights between the U.S. and China from April 30 to May 31 due to the coronavirus outbreak. The suspension also included some destinations outside of China and the airline also said it was reducing capacity by 15%. Its shares fell 7%.
Just two weeks ago the State Department advised U.S. citizens to reconsider travel to Italy.
Italy has since extended its restrictions of movements to the entire country.
