Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Information Technology, Footwear & Textile and Construction & Engineering sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.59%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were PCH Holdings PLC (CM:PCHH), which rose 25.00% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.500 at the close. Meanwhile, Blue Diamonds Jewellery Worldwide PLC (CM:BLUE) added 20.00% or 0.100 points to end at 0.600 and Singer Industries PLC (CM:SINI) was up 18.26% or 12.29 points to 79.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tess Agro PLC (CM:TESS), which fell 16.67% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.500 at the close. Muller & Phipps PLC (CM:MULL) declined 12.50% or 0.100 points to end at 0.700 and Nanda Investments and Finance PLC (CM:NAND) was down 10.79% or 5.20 points to 43.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 104 to 57 and 61 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tess Agro PLC (CM:TESS) fell to 5-year lows; falling 16.67% or 0.100 to 0.500. Shares in Blue Diamonds Jewellery Worldwide PLC (CM:BLUE) rose to all time lows; rising 20.00% or 0.100 to 0.600. Shares in Muller & Phipps PLC (CM:MULL) fell to 5-year lows; losing 12.50% or 0.100 to 0.700. Shares in Singer Industries PLC (CM:SINI) rose to 5-year lows; up 18.26% or 12.29 to 79.60.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.85% or 0.59 to $69.84 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.14% or 0.11 to hit $79.17 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.02% or 0.20 to trade at $1202.00 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.23% to 211.655, while USD/LKR rose 0.15% to 162.510.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 95.12.
